This was my first week in a class with Mr. Schoenborn. Sadly, he wasn't here to assist me with my questions and troubles. HIm not being there, made learning difficult, like breaking a chain. The one day he was here, I wasn't. But that does not mean I didn't learn anything. First and foremost, I learned that poetry is a front runner in how I could learn this trimester. To me, the main idea we focused on learning this week was about us. It didn't necessarily seem to be about learning a leadership lesson or the theme of a required book, it was focused almost entirely on who we are as readers, writers, and ultimately people. The main thing that we did to learn more about us as people, was write a few paragraphs on who we are as readers and writers, To learn about who we are as people, we wrote a poem based off of Where I'm from by George Ella Lyon. I highly enjoyed writing my own version of this incredibly deep and insightful poem. I learned that I enjoy writing poems more than I had originally anticipated. Normally, I only write poetry for myself without thought or care as if anyone ever reads it. I am excited for this class to actually begin. I'm mostly excited for time to learn the difference in my english class last trimester and this one. Last trimester, I wasn't challenged as a reader, writer, or student. I flew through that class without much thought as to what I was doing because I already knew what to do. My hopes for this class is to actually be challenged in whatever it is that I am doing. I have heard this class is more difficult, which is why I switched into it in the first place. My main and only question for this class, is will it challenge me?
