We have learned a lot about identity this week. It was a lot like last week when we focused on who we are as people. The identity lesson over identity vs power was interesting. We wrote down different things that reminded us of identity then we wrote down words that reminded us about power. Then we took those words and created sentences. In reference to that lesson, it was the questions that caught my attention. Each question was unique and interesting in its own retrospect. The teaching style that Schoenborn presents with is laidback yet up beat at the same time, making lesson plans about things as simple as identity interesting. Another thing that I found highly interesting was the poems, on monday specifically. Shane Koyczan is one of my favorite poets, and shoulders was an excellent start to the week. Something about starting with poetry catches my attention to this class. It gives the whole class a laidback feel when in reality we are doing lots of things for our learning experience. The poetry and creative writing sections were extremely fun to participate in. The creative writes really helped my brain relax and have fun even though I was participating in school work. Normally creative writing bored me because there is always a prompt. But being able to choose anything. All in all, I actually really enjoy this class so far. There is a lot to do on a day to day basis, but that keeps the class exciting. Some teachers plan out days with large amounts of independent work time, which just leaves me bored. I like the fast passed nature that schoenborn teaches with.
